Mark your calendars – an award-winning musical is coming to Adelphi Theatre in February 2019.

Beginning its world tour, a Broadway hit Waitress moves to London after a successful run at Brooks Atkinson Theater. The story, based on the 2007 film written by Adrienne Shelly, was the first Broadway musical in history created by four women in the top creative roles: the scriptwriter, composer, choreographer and director.

Jessie Nelson (book), Sara Bareilles (score), Lorin Latarro (choreography) and Diane Paulus (direction) teamed up to tell a story of Jenna, a small-town pie maker who dreams of a way out of her life. When a contest in the nearby county and the town’s new doctor enter the scene, the heroine gets a chance to transform her life – but only if she finds the courage to make all the right choices.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Waitress is coming to the beautiful Adelphi Theatre! It is a dream come true to share this musical with London audiences,” said the director Diane Paulus, sharing her excitement about the upcoming series of performances.

The music was written by Sara Bareilles, a singer-songwriter who was nominated for Grammys six times. She was also recognised with an Emmy nomination for her role in Jesus Christ Superstar Live. She released five studio albums so far, with her latest record – What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress – receiving a lot of recognition.

“I cannot contain my excitement that we will be bringing Waitress to the West End,” the artist said about the upcoming London run of the musical. “This is a dream come true! And I must say, to be hosted in a theatre co-owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Nederlander Group makes this very sweet moment even sweeter. We are so proud of this beautiful show and can’t wait to share the story of Jenna with a whole new audience and welcome them into the world of Waitress with open arms and plenty of pie.”

The previews will begin on the 8th of February 2019 ahead of the show’s official opening night on the 7th of March. Tickets for the UK premiere will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, the 25th of September 2018. They’ll be available at You can also call 020 7087 7753 to get them on the phone.
