A drought in film at the moment? While we’re waiting for a couple of exciting releases, let’s take a look at a couple of interesting film trailers.
Whether you believe in what trailers tell you or not, they’re always raising the excitement about the films – and as much as you’d judge a book by its cover (or a blurb on it), they sometimes help you decide on when to book for a film. And in the post-award season, when the film festivals are in the full swing, a couple of films to look forward to have been introduced to us. Have you missed any of them? Check them out below.
Take James Bond and give him a handful of John Wick skills. Then, make him a woman – because who else could deal with the enemies of the Queen best? Charlize Theron goes undercover as the MI6 agent, combining sensuality and spycraft on a mission to Berlin – delivering a package from a destabilised city and figuring out how to navigate in the net of spies. David Leitch, responsible for John Wick and upcoming Deadpool 2, adapts a comic book with a kick-ass heroine at the heart of it.
Shakespeare aficionados need not apply… unless they’re slightly less conservative. This story takes the title from the play, and fast-forwards a couple of centuries – where a woman, married because she was forced to, tries to untangle herself from the world dominated by men. Florence Pugh, who was a promising debut of The Falling, yet again proves herself in this sleek-looking indie favourite. That’s the one to anticipate!
Fast and Furious 8
If you’re a fan of the franchise, you probably are anticipating its newest episode. Now, when The Family decided to take a break, there’s a mysterious woman who seduces Dom into the crime underworld again. With Charlize Theron entering the story and Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez returning, it should be even more action-fuelled than before. And man, we cannot wait to see Helen Mirren there.
Here’s to more fast cars… but what if you made Fast and Furious with songs? Here might be the answer – in a story about a young getaway driver who wants to ditch his profession once he meets the girl of his dreams. But can he do that if his crime boss won’t leave him alone? With Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey and Lily James, this will be one of the most interesting films of this summer.
Despicable Me 3
Okay now, anyone who isn’t a fan of Minions may leave now. They’ll be back this summer – and after the success of Despicable Me and its sequel (and somehow less interesting Minion movie) there’s a whole new story to be continued!
After The Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot comes back to reclaim the DC Comics legacy with Wonder Woman. And although the Internet is divided over her armpit hair, we urge you to pay attention to the film – which will bring the origins of the superhero to the fore, with Amazonians and Diana looking like modern Diana/Artemis. Here’s where the superpowers come from!
